Battelle's Chemical Demilitarization Plant Operations (CDPO) Product Line, which specializes in providing world class support to government organizations engaged in chemical defense, chemical demilitarization, and treaty compliance services, is seeking an Air Monitoring Branch Manager in the Pueblo Colorado area for full-time, day shift work.
The selected candidate will work at the Pueblo chemical Depot supporting the pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) project. Primary job responsibilities will include:
- Serves as the supervisor of the Air Monitoring Branch engaged in the calibration and challenge of near real time monitoring systems to support agent neutralization at the PCAPP demilitarization facility.
- Serves as the CEMS subject matter expert in providing guidance to the project for non-agent air monitoring requirements.
- Trains and supervises chemists, Monitoring Shift Leads and Instrument, NRTM and DAAMS technicians in laboratory methods; ensure that operators are trained and certified IAW the PCAPP personnel training plan.
- Executes laboratory preventive maintenance program to ensure safe, consistent and efficient laboratory operations.
- Ensures that laboratory personnel operate in compliance with applicable State, Army, EPA, CDPHE and OSHA regulations, programmatic guidance and local requirements.
- Designates, trains and ensures personnel respond properly to emergencies and perform tasks, as required by the Aberdeen emergency response plan.
- Establishes policies and objectives, prepares and conducts performance reviews and performs related personnel activities.
- Prepares cost, schedule, and resource estimates for task performance.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
- BS degree in hard sciences, Chemistry preferred, with eight (8) years equivalent experience and at least five (5) years experience directly related to air monitoring.
- Two (2) years management experience in an analytical laboratory required; preferably chemical agents.
- Demonstrated knowledge in instrumental methods of analysis including gas chromatographic analysis, toxic material handling, and wet chemistry and EPA methods required.
- Successfully pass medical screen, including the ability to wear a respirator and other PPE, lift up to 50 lbs--may involve work in close proximity of toxic chemicals.
- Successfully complete and pass initial background and governmental security investigations, as requiredproof of citizenship, credit check, prior convictions, drug screening, etc.
- Interact effectively with government and contractor personnel thru written correspondence or verbal communication.
