Qualifications

The Collector/Biller is responsible for the effective and creative use of proven follow-up techniques, and self-directed initiative, to contact patients and third-party payers to collect payments and resolve outstanding account balances. The Collector/Biller manages several tasks related to patient accounts for hospital and clinical facilities. Due to the nature of the job, the Biller/Collector have to interact with and manage patients on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • The ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment is critical.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred but not required.
  • Prefer 2 years of medical billing, general accounting, accounts receivable and collections experience. Experience in a hospital environment desirable.
  • Prefer knowledge of general accounting, medical billing, accounts receivable and collections. Knowledge and skills working with computerized accounting systems required.
  • Responsible for maintaining the collection and follow-up function in a professional manner in order to most effectively achieve the hospital's cash collection and accounts receivable management objectives.
  • Assists in transmittal of billings to third-party payors, either manually or electronically.
