Job Description

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Leadership

  1. Provide effective global leadership on achieving world-class performance related to corporate environmental, safety, occupational health, occupational medicine, remediation services, and strategic excellence.
  2. Lead development and implementation of all environmental, health and safety standards, including updating existing policies, guidelines, and developing new programs as needed.
  3. Provide leadership, guidance, and development to employees on the Environment, Occupational Health, Medicine, Safety, remediation, and strategic excellence team(s).
  4. Provide and implement superior customer service to all internal and external customers, including Global Supply Chain, Paint Store Group and other business divisions.
  5. Work cooperatively with all levels of management staff on environmental, health, safety, medical, and remediation related issues as they impact other company functions.
  6. Work with other functions in the Company to facilitate total wellness program development.
  7. Manage the global EHS auditing / compliance assurance process.
  8. Manage the global remediation liability reserves and management process.
  9. Lead the EHS acquisition / due diligence and integration process.

Corporate Safety

  1. Provide global leadership and expertise in all areas related to global safety programs including, process safety, resin safety, fire protection and life safety.
  2. Develop and implement loss-preventive programs to achieve reduction and control of injuries and property loss.
  3. Manage facility audit program and inspections for occupational safety, health and medicine.
  4. ldentify strategic, critical initiatives necessary to support Company-wide safety and risk control programs and processes that significantly reduce operational risk and drive key performance metrics.
  5. Identify strategic, critical initiatives necessary to protect employees and the public, while demonstrating leadership in effecting compliance solutions that assure organizational sustainability.

Occupational Health & Medicine

  1. Lead and work with the Director of Occupational Health to develop a strategic plan that meets the overall objectives of the Company EHS Policy and that is reflective of the current state of occupational health and industrial hygiene.
  2. Supports the industrial hygiene and occupational health improvement efforts by evaluating current practices and procedures; identifying improvement opportunities and recommending solutions.
  3. Develop and maintain corporate policies with respect to workplace exposures, occupational disease prevention and collection and laboratory analysis procedures for chemical air contaminants.
  4. Manages a department of professional industrial hygienists, including global regional managers.
  5. Provides leadership and direction and serve as a senior level resource on existing health standards and laws worldwide and develops assessments on the impact of impending or newly developed occupational health legislation and regulations on the Company.

Environmental

  1. Work with Environmental Director and team of environmental professionals in supporting compliance, ESG and regulatory reporting, spill prevention, and tracking of key sustainability projects

Remediation

  1. Ensure that the Director of remediation services provides reserve accruals for liabilities on a quarterly basis both timely and accurately. Also ensure that all remediation project are managed to minimize cost and ensure ongoing legal compliance.
  2. Ensure that the remediation team support S-W's growth by having a consistent and efficient acquisition due diligence and EHS integration process.

EHS Strategic Excellence

  1. Ensure that the Director of EHS Strategic Excellence has a robust audit / compliance assurance process for both GSC and PCG. Ensure that the EHS management system is kept up to date, communicated, and supported.

Data Management / Digitization

  1. Ensure that the company has a data management system that can meet the needs of all divisions, and accurately capture, validate, and communicate all EHS and ESG related data.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety or other related field.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety or other related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional
  • Certified Hazardous Material Manager
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience leading the health and safety program for a global organization
  • Global experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of federal, state, and local health and safety requirements, industry trends, and ability to work effectively in a globally-matrixed organization/team environment

Must be at least 18 years or older

Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future

  • Travel 20%
