Description

We are currently seeking a part-time Fire Investigator to join our team of forensic experts.

The Fire Investigator's principal duties will consist of determining the origin and cause of fires involving a myriad of incidents including residential and/or commercial structures, vehicles, and marine fires; gather photographic and physical evidence; conduct investigations to document onsite conditions and oversee field- testing,. This includes scene photography, interview witnesses, and evidence/data gathering. Prepare oral and written reports that document causes of fire or explosion incidents. Prepare and give depositions and expert testimony, when required.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Fire Science and/or 5+ years of related experience (fire investigator, firefighter, Law enforcement experience) is required.
  • Knowledge of fire ground procedures, including fire investigative duties, serving in the capacity of fire fighter, law enforcement specializing in fire origin and cause.
  • Experience in fire and explosion investigation and analysis field is a MUST.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word is required.
  • NAFI-CFEI is for consideration of employment, but IAAI-CFI at a minimum is required (and/or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months of employment).

  • Must have a current P.I. license in the State of Washington (exceptions may be made if a P.I. license is current in a neighboring state with the ability to obtain a WA within 6 months).
  • Must have current IAAI or comparable transcript identifying education meeting with industry standards NFPA 921 & 1033.
  • Must have current certifications and course-related work as it relates to fire origin and cause.
  • Possess strong technical knowledge and understanding of processing investigative fire scenes (including but not limited to, photographic documentation, collecting and transporting evidence, and related duties as assigned).

SALARY RANGE: $55 to $85 per hour
