Job Description
Job Summary: The Cost Estimator will collect and analyze data in order to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required for KEMRON project bids. Work will be performed both in an office setting with occasional travel and work in the field.

Primary Responsibilities and responsibilities:
  • After obtaining a thorough understanding of the scope of work, prepare estimates through analysis of proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. These steps include:
    • Identifying labor mix, material, and time requirements for bid preparation;
    • Preparing material takeoffs from blueprint;
    • Preparing RFQs to send out to subcontractors or suppliers;
    • Obtaining current and accurate information on prices;
    • Preparing workflow schedules Review and QC bid pricing from all vendors;
    • Review and QC bid pricing from all vendors;
    • Resolving discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information;
    • Participating in site walks in support of cost estimate preparation; and
    • Presenting prepared estimate to management.
  • Assist in the development of technical work plans;
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors and subcontractors;
  • Maintain and populate cost database by entering and backing up data;
  • Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects; and
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • 5+ years of field experience in commercial and/or environmental remediation;
  • 3+ years of experience in construction/environmental estimating;
  • Environmental/construction project management experience;
  • Strong understanding of environmental remediation processes;
  • Ability to read architectural plans;
  • Proficiency with MS Word/Microsoft Windows/MS Project and Excel;
  • Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines;
  • Be detail oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills; and
  • Ability to develop value engineered alternatives.
Additional Qualifications Preferred:
  • Minimum of two-year degree in Engineering or Construction Technology/Management;
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER training certificate/8-Hr Refresher.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to work on a computer for prolonged periods;
  • Must be able to assess the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of assigned tasks;
  • Must have ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods;
  • Must have the ability to move about to accomplish tasks or move from one workstation to another within an office environment;
  • Must be able to manually operate all office machines to include printers and copiers; and
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
