What Attracts the Hiring Manager or Recruiter to Your LinkedIn Profile?

Many people hate having their photo taken. Still others say they never take a good photo when given the opportunity to be photographed. Others just never get around to being in the picture because they are always the photographer. When it comes to using LinkedIn or other platforms, your photo is necessary.

What attracts the hiring manager or recruiter to your LinkedIn profile?

When a hiring manager or recruiter is using LinkedIn as a tool, they are looking for valid, complete profiles. The photo is a key part of the completeness. If you want hiring managers to look at your profile, add your photo. Unlike the resume, which in the United States, should never have a photo, your LinkedIn profile should be completed with a professional-looking photo.

I didn’t say it had to be shot by a professional. Professional photographers will certainly add to the photo from the standpoint that a good photographer knows how to transform your image into an attractive representation of your best qualities. Today, many people who aren’t photographers by professional know how to capture a photo that can be used on LinkedIn. The advent of the smart phone has put a camera into the hands of many more people than ever before.

If you are one of those people who is trying to use LinkedIn without a photo, add one to your profile and see what happens. The other day I was working with a client and we added her photo to both LinkedIn and Facebook. In just a few minutes, she had many people reach out to compliment the photo and ask to touch base. I have seen the same results with my own photos and the photos of my friends. When you load a new photo, you will get responses. The more connections you have, the more likely someone is likely to let you know they saw the new photo.
